• At Boneyard Star, every garment begins long before the first stitch is sewn. Our process starts at the source, inside manufacturer warehouses where unused or overproduced materials are destined for landfills or packed into containers headed overseas. We intervene at that moment, rescuing these textiles before they enter the waste stream.

  • From there, each piece undergoes a complete transformation. We don’t simply mend or embellish — we reimagine and rebuild.

We fully deconstruct every rescued material down to its bones, removing seams, separating panels, salvaging hardware, and identifying the elements with the strongest potential. Then the rebuilding begins.

Every piece is redesigned from the ground up, honoring the raw character of the rescued material while shaping it into a couture-level creation. We cut, sculpt, distress, reinforce, stitch, and tailor by hand, a process that blends artistry with technical precision. The result is a piece that is handcrafted with intention and the unmistakable spirit of the Mojave energy that inspires us.

Each Boneyard Star design is a true one-of-one, created through hours of hands-on craftsmanship and an unwavering commitment to reinvention.

Founder | Dr. Nina Vallejo

Boneyard Star was founded by Dr. Nina Vallejo, OMD, CHt a Board-Certified Doctor of Chinese Medicine and visionary whose life’s work centers around deep transformation. Before she ever designed a garment, Nina spent years helping others restore balance in their being — treating not just symptoms, but the entirety of a person: their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual landscape.

As the founder of Tribe With Roots, a thriving integrative clinic grounded in ancient and Eastern medicinal traditions, Nina has always believed in the power of rebuilding from the inside out. Her work is guided by the truths she sees every day in medicine: that healing comes from intentional disruption, that breaking things down is sometimes the first step in bringing them back to life, and that nothing — and no one — is beyond restoration.

This belief evolved into a second calling:

Restoration of balance for the planet by rescuing materials and transforming them into quality wearable art.

Nina sources textiles destined for the landfill or overseas shipment, intervening before they are lost to the waste cycle. She deconstructs each piece entirely — taking it down to its bones — then rebuilds it with the same precision, intuition, compassion and purposeful artistry she brings to her medical practice.

As a couture designer, each of her pieces are a one-of-one creation shaped by craftsmanship.

Under her direction, the brand is rapidly expanding by opening the first Boneyard Star Design House in January 2026.
